Who we are
Executive Summary
The collection and recovery of waste is one of the major challenges facing our urban regions thus demanding the deployment of significant human, technical, and financial resources. The ongoing digitization of these services presents an opportunity to improve and reduce their environmental impact. According to a recent study, smart collection technologies represented a market worth $57.6 billion in 2016 and could be worth more than $223.6 million by 2025. (Open Resources by Suez).
On a regional scale, efficient waste collection means being ”in the right place at the right time. Thanks to data, new solutions are emerging to optimize the logistical collection chain. In particular, these solutions call on the real-time measurement of the content of containers.
Our digital waste management software shall integrate women as the key players in the collection and management of the waste value chain. This will provide a source of income for many women in Africa. In respect of the growing mass of waste – both, consumer wastes like household waste, and industrial wastes, there are increasing problems with disposal. Sustainable waste management is a topic of environmental targets in policy.
Google Plus Code / Geographic Information System (GIS) is a type of database containing geographic data combined with software tools for managing, analyzing, and visualizing those data.
Taka Pay is a digital waste and trade management system that uses Google Plus Code and Geographic Information System (GIS) in controlling waste collec- tion routes, monitoring performance of waste opera- tors, planning and mapping of waste collection zones and tracking waste of waste management waste collection transport vehicle routes for optimized resource management in terms of materials and resources in solid wastei
The immediate problem currently attracting the attention of major African cities’/ towns’ urban space is street hawking at Central Business District (CBD)I. This relates to the continuing rise in the concentration of street hawking activities on busy inter-sections, around markets and major transport routes. Hawking causes environmental pollution, congestion, and poor aesthetics with unauthorized structures that have sprung up in the cities. Street activities generate solid waste, without proper collection and disposal mechanisms. Sanitation and drainage infrastructure and services remain a serious challenge where they operate.
Waste management is a challenge for various city authorities notably in developing countries mainly due to the massive increase in the volume of waste, the burden it poses on the national budget due to high costs associated with its management, lack of understanding over a diversity of factors that affect the different stages of waste management and the linkages necessary to ensure an efficient waste management system. The first goal of Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) is to protect the health of people, particularly that of people with low income. Secondary goals include the promotion of environmental quality sustainability and employment generation.
Global records show that in 2016, the world’s cities generated 2i01 billion tonnes of solid waste and it is expected to rise by 70% to 3i40 billion tonnes in 2050 (Silpa, et al, 2019). In addition, over 90% of waste especially in low-income regions, is often disposed of in unregulated dumps or openly burned (World Bank Group, 2019). Waste management is therefore one of the greatest threats facing man- kind (Hoornweg, 2012) hence, proper management is essentiali
Taka Pay waste management solution offers a real- time digital mapping of waste disposers & hawkers, tracking of collection routes and management of personnel and resources for efficient waste management to manage waste and hawkers’ data in an integrated way so that the complexity of various systems could be reduced to solve all its interrelated issues it is imperative Google Plus Code and Geogr- aphic Information System (GIS) applications are employed.
